There are several finishes available for granite surfaces but there are four main finishes.

Shine

Granite Matte Finish

(honed) finish is a low to no-shine finish. This means that when you look straight into the surface you will not see a reflection. You will see a little bit of reflection when looking across the surface at windows and other light sources. When look at the surface the movement and veining in the stone is more prevalent. Leathered finishes come at all levels of shine from matte to polished. A leathered granite shower surface has an old-world, warm look and feel.

Granite is a hard stone but is still porous. Lighter-colored granites such as tans and whites can be very porous. It’s important to properly and frequently seal these granite surfaces to prevent stains.

A poultice is a cream that when applied to the stained area for some time can lighten or remove even deep-seated stains. It takes seven to ten days for a poultice to do its job.
