Endurashield® Quartzite Sealing
in Beverly Hills, CA

Not all quartzite is created equal. Dense varieties like Taj Mahal seal once and last the life of the counter; porous ones like Macaubas need re-sealing every few years. We identify which type you have and apply EnduraShield® the right way for your stone.

Quartzite is a spectrum — not one stone

If you have quartzite, you do not have quartz. And not all quartzite behaves the same. Dense crystalline varieties — Taj Mahal, Cristallo, Mont Blanc — are 7–8 on the Mohs scale, acid-safe, and naturally stain-resistant. Porous varieties — Azul Macaubas, Calacatta Macaubas, and many soft “Calacatta-look” quartzites — absorb water and oils within minutes; a water drop will darken the surface in 1–3 minutes if it’s unsealed.

Both get sealed with EnduraShield® — just on different timelines. Dense quartzite is a one-and-done: a single application typically lasts the life of the counter. Porous quartzite needs re-sealing every few years to stay protected.

Coffee & Tea

Tannins absorb into unsealed quartzite and leave shadows that won’t wipe off.

Wine & Acidic Drinks

Red wine, juice, and citrus penetrate the surface and leave shadows.

Cooking Oils

Olive oil, butter, and grease soak in and leave dark patches that won’t wipe off.

Hard Water Spots

Mineral deposits from tap water build up and dull the surface over time.

Daily Wear

High-use zones — sink runs, prep areas — dull faster without protection.

The cards above are what happens to porous quartzite without sealing. Dense quartzite is far more forgiving — but if you have a porous variety and it isn’t sealed properly, this is your reality. EnduraShield® closes the porosity and delivers years of stain resistance without changing the look or feel.

Why Choose Sureshine!

Sureshine has been sealing natural stone for over 30 years. We know the difference between dense Cristallo and porous Macaubas — and we apply EnduraShield® the right way for your variety: a one-and-done sealing on dense stone, or a regular reseal schedule on porous stone. It’s our top-shelf nano sealer, used on the most premium projects, and it’s not what most stone shops use.

25+ Years of Stone Care

We’ve sealed quartzite across most common varieties — Taj Mahal, White Macaubas, Mont Blanc, and more. Endurashield® is what we’ve settled on after testing off-the-shelf sealers for years.

Why Endurashield® outlasts hardware-store sealers

Most off-the-shelf stone sealers last 6–12 months on quartzite — and then quietly stop working without telling you. Customers don’t notice until the first stain appears.

Endurashield® is built differently. It penetrates into the stone instead of coating the surface, doesn’t change appearance, and delivers long-lasting protection on quartzite with proper professional application.

What makes EnduraShield® different

Three engineering decisions that separate it from common sealers.

Penetrates, doesn’t coat

Bonds inside the stone matrix instead of sitting on top. The surface still feels and looks like natural stone.

Long-lasting protection

Years of stain resistance, not months. Won’t quietly stop working between annual re-applications.

No appearance change

Doesn’t darken the stone, doesn’t add gloss, doesn’t yellow over time. Your quartzite looks exactly the same — just protected.

Dense · One-and-Done Sealing
Sealed once, lasts the life of the counter

Taj Mahal, Cristallo, Mont Blanc, Super White, Fusion. Mohs 7–8, acid-safe, dense crystalline. We apply EnduraShield® once — and the protection typically lasts as long as you own the counter. No re-sealing schedule to remember.

Porous · Re-Sealing on a Cadence
Sealing is essential — and ongoing

Azul Macaubas, Calacatta Macaubas, Sea Pearl, many “Calacatta-look” quartzites. Water darkens in 1–3 minutes unsealed. EnduraShield® closes the porosity — and we’ll tell you when to plan the next reseal (usually every 1–3 years on porous varieties).

Quartz vs. Quartzite vs. Granite — know what you have

If you’re not sure what stone you actually have, this comparison usually clears it up. Quartzite is the one most people are surprised about.

Engineered Stone
Quartz
  • Manufactured (Caesarstone, Silestone, Cambria, etc.)
  • Non-porous — never needs sealing
  • Highly stain-resistant by design
  • Can dull / etch from heat or abrasion
  • Caesarstone, Silestone, or Cambria branding is your tell

Natural Stone
Quartzite
  • Real natural stone, quarried not made
  • Porosity varies widely by variety
  • Dense (Taj Mahal, Cristallo): Mohs 7–8, sealed once and good for life
  • Porous (Azul Macaubas, soft “Calacatta-look”): stain in minutes unsealed, reseal every 1–3 years
  • Acid-safe across the category — won’t etch from citrus or wine
Natural Stone
Granite
  • Real natural stone, dense and crystalline
  • Semi-porous — most varieties benefit from sealing
  • Mohs 6–7 — slightly softer than true quartzite
  • Endurashield® works on granite too
  • Our Granite Sealing service covers this

Honest pricing — sealing plus polishing

Endurashield® Quartzite Sealing is priced by the project and the square footage of stone we treat.

Polishing is included when the surface needs it — and most quartzite counters do. We don’t charge separately for prep work, because Endurashield® only bonds properly to a polished, clean surface. One service, one price.

New install vs. periodic reseal

New install or never sealed: the full process — polish prep + Endurashield® application. This is the right starting point if the counter has never had a professional sealer or you’re sealing a brand-new quartzite install.

Periodic reseal: if Endurashield® was applied years ago and you’re at the maintenance milestone, the prep is usually lighter and the price reflects that. We’ll tell you whether you actually need a reseal yet — sometimes you don’t.

Existing stains? We’ll take a look and advise. Sometimes stain removal is possible before sealing; sometimes it isn’t. We’ll be straightforward about what’s recoverable.

Frequently asked questions

Honest answers to the questions we hear most.

Does my quartzite need sealing? (The water-drop test)
Try this: put a few drops of water on a flat, clean area of the counter and walk away for 5 minutes. If the water beads or sits on the surface, you have a dense variety — we still seal it, but a single EnduraShield application typically lasts the life of the counter (no recurring schedule). If the spot darkens within 1–3 minutes, the stone is porous and absorbing — EnduraShield is essential and you will plan a reseal every 1–3 years. Send us the photo of the test and we’ll confirm which group you’re in.
How is quartzite different from quartz? I thought they were the same.
Completely different materials. Quartz is an engineered product — ground stone bonded with resin, made in a factory, non-porous, never needs sealing. Quartzite is real natural stone, quarried like granite or marble. Quartzite is hard (Mohs 7–8) and acid-safe across the category, but porosity varies dramatically by variety. Dense Taj Mahal behaves nothing like porous Azul Macaubas.
How often do I need to reseal quartzite?
Depends on the variety. Dense quartzite sealed with EnduraShield is typically a one-and-done: a single application lasts the life of the counter. Porous varieties like Macaubas need re-sealing every 1–3 years (vs. 6–12 months for hardware-store sealers). Traffic, cleaning chemicals, and the specific stone all factor in. We’ll give you a realistic timeline based on the actual variety.
Will EnduraShield change how my quartzite looks?
No. EnduraShield penetrates into the stone rather than coating the surface. It doesn’t darken, doesn’t add gloss, doesn’t yellow over time. Your quartzite looks identical — just protected.
Can it remove existing stains?
Sealing prevents future stains; it doesn’t undo existing ones. Sometimes we can address existing stains during the polishing/prep phase, especially shallow ones. Deep stains in porous quartzite may not be recoverable. Send us photos and we’ll tell you upfront what we can and can’t do.
Why is sealing + polishing combined?
EnduraShield bonds best when the surface is properly polished and clean. Skipping the polish step gives you a weaker seal that wears out faster. Rather than charging separately for prep work and creating an incentive to skip it, we include polishing in the price so you get the full benefit of the sealer.
How long does the service take?
A standard kitchen runs a half-day to a full day depending on size and the amount of polishing needed. The counter is unusable during the work and for several hours after (while the sealer cures), but back in service the same day.
