Why people need a countertop hole drilling specialist

Most plumbers and installers won’t drill granite, quartz, or quartzite. The risk of cracking the stone is real — so when you need a new hole in your counter, you call us. We drill clean holes in Huntington Beach, CA homes every week.

Dishwasher Air Gap

Plumbing code requires an air gap on most new dishwasher installs.

New Faucet

Replacing or adding a kitchen or bath faucet that needs a different hole count.

Soap Dispenser

Built-in soap or lotion dispenser — cleaner look than a countertop bottle.

Water Filter / RO / Hot

Filtered water spigot, reverse osmosis tap, instant hot, or sparkling water.

Plumber Refused

Your plumber said “we don’t drill granite.” That’s where we come in.

These are the most common calls. If your situation is different, send us a photo — we’ve probably done it.

Why Choose Sureshine!

Sureshine technicians are stone professionals — not plumbers. Over 30 years we’ve drilled hundreds of holes in granite, quartz, and quartzite countertops for new faucets, air gaps, and fixtures. We do this every week. Most plumbers do it once.

Hundreds of Holes

Backed by 25+ years of stone work. We’ve drilled holes for every type of fixture in every major granite, quartz, and quartzite brand.

Why drilling granite & quartz is risky for the wrong installer

Stone counters are unforgiving. Drill at the wrong speed, skip water cooling, or push too hard and you can crack the surface, chip the edge, or blow out the underside. Most plumbers won’t take the risk — and the ones who do often regret it.

We use the right tools and technique every time. The result is a clean hole, no damage to the surrounding stone, and no replaced countertop.

What it takes to drill stone safely

Three things have to be right. Get any one wrong and the counter cracks.

Diamond Core Bits

Specifically rated for granite, quartz, and quartzite. Standard masonry bits crack the stone.

Continuous Water Cooling

Friction heat is the #1 cause of cracking. We feed water continuously to keep the bit and stone cool.

Slow Speed, Light Pressure

Stone drilling is the opposite of wood. Slow RPM with light pressure prevents blowouts on the underside.

Every major granite, quartz, and quartzite brand. Caesarstone, Silestone, Cambria, MSI, LG Viatera, Hanstone, Vicostone, Q Premium — plus natural granite from any source.

Customer responsibility: mark exactly where you want the hole. We don’t decide hole placement — that’s based on your fixture’s specs and your plumber’s install plan.

A smarter way to think about it

Multiple fixtures planned? Get them all drilled in one trip and every hole after the first runs at $250. The trip cost is fixed regardless of how many fixtures you’re adding.

If you have other stone work that needs attention, combining services in one visit keeps the math even better:

  • Granite counters that could use polishing or sealing
  • Marble that needs sealing or AntiEtch®
  • Travertine floors that have lost their shine
  • A shower that needs refinishing

One visit, multiple results. The trip cost spreads across multiple surfaces. The per-service value goes up. And you end the day with a whole home that looks the way you want it to.

Frequently asked questions

Honest answers to the questions we hear most.

Will drilling crack or damage my counter?
With the right technique and equipment — diamond core bits, continuous water cooling, slow speed, controlled pressure — no. We’ve drilled hundreds of holes without damage. The risk is real if you use a plumber or DIY, which is why most plumbers won’t even try.
Do I need to be home? Do I decide where the hole goes?
Yes to both. We need you (or your plumber) to mark the exact drill location and to verify the position before we start. We don’t decide hole placement — that’s based on your fixture’s specs and your plumber’s install plan. The job itself takes 30–60 minutes per hole.
What materials do you drill?
Granite, quartz (Caesarstone, Silestone, Cambria, MSI, LG Viatera, Hanstone, Vicostone, and others), and quartzite. If you have a different hard surface, send us a photo and we’ll let you know.
Can you drill an existing countertop already installed?
That’s our specialty. We drill the hole right where you need it on a counter that’s already installed — with your sink, faucet, or fixture already in place if needed. We work around what’s there.
How much does it cost?
$500 for the first hole, $250 for each additional hole on the same trip. Includes setup, water containment, and cleanup. Customer is responsible for marking exact drill location.
How long does the appointment take?
Most one-hole jobs take 30–60 minutes including setup. Multi-hole jobs run 1–2 hours. The counter area is unusable during work but back in service the same day.
